Here you see a photo of the drawing I made of the keys using some shading and variation in weight of line. Unfortunately, I shook a little when I photographed them. Nonetheless, all of the details, basic shapes and arrangement in space are visible. You can see where I roughly outlined the rectangle in which I would place the drawing on my canvasses.
I chose to make a diptych so used two 24"x36"canvasses. Laid them side by side to form a 36"x48"painting surface and began by drawing the basic outlines in titan buff with 1"stiff brush.
Next, I decided on my value contrasts and painted dark areas with raw umber, left some spaces white, and enforced the outlines with cadmium red light.
