The first step in this process is to find an ordinary object to study and draw. If possible, draw it from several perspectives if it can be treated 3-dimensionally. You never know which perspective will start you on the road to an interesting composition.
I chose my car keys to draw because I liked the arrangement of them as they lay on the table where I had thrown them.
My grandson, Jonathan, worked independently on his own drawing and painting at the same time as I was working on mine. His drawing and painting follow the images of mine. You should know that, at no time, did he look over to see what I was doing except in the few occasions when I asked him for advice.
